Bring the water to a boil with the ginger powder and crushed cardamom.
Add the tea leaves and let it boil hard for a minute to draw out the colour.
Pour in the milk and sugar and bring it back to a rolling boil.
Lower the flame and let it bubble for 2–3 minutes until deep brown and aromatic.
Strain into cups and serve piping hot.
